Jane Chrumka

I was born and raised in Australia with country, city and coastal experiences. I was educated in Australia with further study of interior design undertaken in Scotland. After living in many locations throughout Australia, England and Canada, I settled in Scotland with my family in 2004.

Yes, sometimes I do miss the sunny & dry weather of down under!

After 20 years of work experience in the corporate world in various industries, such as, agriculture, transport, legal, tourism, leisure and retail, I decided to embark on a career that wrapped all my experiences and skills into one with a creative edge. My approach is to design spaces that not only look good but feel good and perform well.  Asking questions and listening to the client, providing solutions that work for the individual and delivering efficiently with a smile is key. The outdoors have been a great influence and incorporating an organic feel to a space can be all that it needs for cohesiveness and well-being to be achieved.

I am passionate about providing interiors that meet the practical needs of the client, as well as being vibrant and reflective of the client’s personality. It gives me enormous satisfaction to see the smile on my client’s face when the work is done. I do not believe in change for the sake of change but rather because it provides a better solution. Just because it has been deemed the latest and greatest by the retail industry, doesn’t mean that it is the right choice for the client, so although trends will be acknowledged, creativity will not be dictated to by what is currently on trend.

In addition to interior design, I have a specific love and keen eye for colour. Whether you require colour solutions for interiors, exteriors, domestic, commercial, product or company branding, graphic or web design, personal style and imaging, I am qualified in colour systems, colour analysis and colour psychology to be able to assist.

Colour & Design are threads that run throughout all areas of our lives and I enjoy getting involved in many creative projects, working with other designers and professionals to produce bespoke products. I enjoy exploring design concepts for jewellery, art, soft furnishings and furniture with a view of bringing those ideas to my clients.

I love learning and taking on new challenges. With this in mind, I am embarking on a new venture in 2017 by undertaking a British Sign Language Degree at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Once my degree is complete, my plan is to incorporate my new skill into the business, opening up my colour and design services to the Deaf Community, as well as providing a freelance BSL interpreting and translating service.

As this degree is full time, I will be focusing part time on colour consulting, providing colour expertise and solutions rather than full time design project management and implementation for the foreseeable future.
